The Life We Bury - Allen Eskens

My favorite book on October ! ! !

  • The world is grey.
The world is void of creativity and emotion.
The world takes a beautiful mind and twists it into something the skies have seen billions of. We live in a black and white world where color is condemned, and those who strive for success are dreamers.
    Look out.
Look out for the innovative minds.
They are the ones surrounded by small-minded people living small lives in small towns.
They are the ones who find the beauty in simplicity.
They are the ones digging around in nature because beauty needs not a price tag.
They will be the ones posting pictures of every sunset, every flower, every park they go to.
A black and white life produces security and money.
An inventive and colorful world produces imagination, experience, and character.

  • If you only ever remember one thought, make it this.
    you can walk away.
you can make the choice to leave somebody who is intoxicating to your well-being and mental stability.
you can make the choice to walk away from a situation you understand you’re not comfortable with.
you can make the choice to walk away from a lifestyle that doesn’t accurately represent you and your soul.
if somebody hurts you emotionally, walk away.
never linger around people or events that make you question what you’re doing with your time.
life is too short and time is too precious.
walk away and head towards a life you’d be grateful to live.
you have the power to walk away when you feel it’s necessary, and you should exercise that power whenever you feel it should be exercised.

Standoff - Sandra Brown

Standoff

  • I gave a lot of people the title, “Best-Friends” even when they weren’t there for me. Even when none stood up for me. Even when I looked over my shoulder and saw no one. Even when I wanted to lean on them, hoping they’d catch me but never did. Even when I wanted someone to hold me just for 5 seconds and let my tears fall, but no one did.  So I laugh, head thrown back, eyes clenched tightly—as they smile at me and say, “What are Best friends for ? - Vee
The Return of Sherlock Holmes - Arthur Conan Doyle

One of my fav book !

  • I am not attracted to book smart. I could care less about your college degree. I am attracted to raw intelligence. Anyone can sit behind a desk. I want to know what you know beyond the realm of our society. And only living and seeking can give you that intelligence. We’ve got time. Let’s sit on the rooftop at 2am and introduce me to your mind. - Vee

So I’ve decided I’m going to spent this summer with my nose in a book and not in my phone. So now I need recommendations of good books to read. Send me the name of your favorite book and I’ll look it up!

And as much as I hate to say it, I just realized that as I grew older, I already accepted that some people will not always be there for me every time I need them. That no matter how wide I opened my door, they would never come in. That no matter how loud I shouted their names, they wouldn’t turn around and face me. I already accepted the fact that they also have their own problems—to solve. That sometimes they need to save themselves first. It wasn’t being a bad friend nor a selfish one. But it was just us human beings wanting and searching for a mean to survive. And yes, I understand, even if it broke my heart not only once but too many times.

The world is blue at its edges and its depths. This blue is the light that got lost. Light at the blue end of the spectrum does not travel the whole distance from the sun to us. It disperses among the molecules of the air, it scatters in the water. Water of colorless, shallow water appears to be the color of whatever lies underneath it, but deep water is full of this scattered light, the purer the water the deeper the blue. The sky is blue for the same reason, but the blue at the horizon, the blue of the land that seems to be dissolving into the sky, is a deeper, dreamier, melancholy blue, the blue at the farthest reaches of the places where you see for miles, the blue of distance. This light does not touch us, does not travel the whole distance, the light that gets lost, gives us the beauty of the world, so much of which is the color blue.

  1. To me it's all about trust and loyalty. I need someone I can trust to be myself with. Someone who won't spill my secrets to another person, even if it's someone who they trust and are close to. I need someone who is loyal. I've had too many people just leave from my life walk out, just like that. Too many who have replace me. I need someone who won't simply ditch me for someone else because they're funner, or more open, or belong to another crowd. I need someone I can count on. Because I'd be willing to do all of that for someone, and so much more.

Right now, there are people all over the world who are just like you. They're lonely. They're missing somebody. They're in love with someone they probably shouldn't be in love with. They have secrets you wouldn't believe. They wish, dream, hope, and they look out the window whenever they're in the car or on a bus or a train & they watch the people on the streets & wonder what they've been through. They wonder if there are people out there like them. They're like you & you could tell them everything & they would understand. You're never alone.

Dear Aaron - Mariana Zapata
Reblogged from christina's book corner:
I shrieked. I could be woman enough to admit that I shouted at the top of my lungs the second something brushed my leg in the water. I could also be woman enough to admit that when whatever it was touched me, and I yelled in this high-pitched voice that could have made a dog howl, I jumped. I jumped in the air. I projected myself at the closest thing to me despite being hip-deep in the water. That closest thing being six feet two inches of man named Aaron. Except at that point, Aaron hadn’t been facing me or had his back to me, we had been practically beside each other, and it was only his lightning-quick reflexes at hearing me shout that he managed to catch me right before I barreled into him.
A Game of Thrones / A Clash of Kings - George R.R. Martin
